Went to the Puffincat Comedy night with some friends and the mytopfive competition winners. The Bewleys Theatre is fantastic little venue which resembles a big cosy living room. The place was sold out but was gently packed.
The night was MC’d by the Diet of Worms and they were probably the best I’ve seen them. The sketches really flowed into each other and they talked directly to the audience which made the sketches seem more interactive rather than set pieces. I was impressed how they blended in video, music and props very naturally. They seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves and I really hope they do well.
The support was a guy called Alan Bennett who narrated an illustrated story. He was funny and like the DoW, was a refreshing alternative to the standard stand up affair. The main act was Damo Clark (of “I dare ya” fame). I have to admit he was a bit average but perhaps my standards were already set too high.
Looking forward to next months Puffincat Club now. Gonna bring my camera and get some shots.
