My name is Tom. I’m sadly now in my 3rd year of a PhD in University College Dublin. I study breast cancer proteomics. In my spare time I like music (playing, listening), football (playing, not listening) and other semi-arty things like photography and writing. Above all things, I am a nerd and proud.

I am so honoured to be the first comment I think I may just burst out of my skin with excitment.
Unfortunately, I don’t have anything to say.
Dammit….

Proteomics is the (attempted) study of all the proteins in a cell at the same time. I’m trying to find one’s that say “Hey! I’m cancer and I’m gonna spread!”

The fact that I can understand what your PhD focus is makes me feel as if I DID actually learn something at college…
It helps that a chemist friend is researching breast cancer in Pittsburgh - but I’ll take self-validation where I can get it.
