Nintendo are notoriously tight lipped as a company, with no rumours escaping it’s walls. This months’ Nintendo Direct is focusing on the new Legend of Zelda game, but there is a high chance they’ll showcase some new games. Here’s a list of 5 possible games they will not announce, but probably should:
- Super Mario Galaxy 3
Starting off with an obvious entry, Super Mario Galaxy 3 would be huge! The threequel to masterpieces Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. If it was to be an NX launch game, could take advantage of the NX’s new processing power, which could make the already beauitful enviroments even better. After the release of Super Mario Maker, we’re due another 3D title, hopefully one set in the stars.
- Pikmin 4
The last we heard of Pikmin 4, Miyamoto said the game is ‘Very close to Completion’. That was back in July 2015. Surely a year of work is enough to finish the game up and have it announced? No? Maybe I’m forgetting Nintendo work in Nintendo time. Pikmin 4 will most likely be an NX launch game, I’m calling it now.
- Super Mario Maker 2
Mario Maker was a surprise hit, allowing gamers to create their very own mario courses, some brilliant, some less so. What could Nintendo do to improve on this? Another 2D game sure, but why not a 3D version? Sure it’d be a lot more difficult to make a 3D editor, but allowing people access to SM64, Sunshine, Galaxy and 3D series textures and items could lead to some increible level design. And maybe put Nintendo out of business (If not because of user ingenuity, through the cost of developing the game.) This one seems like one for cutting room floor.
- New Donkey Kong game 2D/3D
Donkey Kong is always a fan favourite, 2014’s Tropical Freeze went down a treat (There’s a pun in there somewhere), and a new one wouldn’t go amiss. However, Nintendo could absolutely shock by announcing a 3D Donkey Kong game – The very first since 1999 and the release of Donkey Kong 64. Nintendo could do crazy things if they just pushed the boat out a little every now and then.
- Super Mario 64/Sunshine sequel
In order to avoid having too many Mario based entries on this list, I am grouping these two together. Look Nintendo, People love 3D Mario games, and they would love sequels for them. Really they would. It could be the same hub world with new levels and almost everybody would be happy. Please I’ll accept any 3D mario game at this point.
I could always write more, but I’ll save it for an NX list in the future! Agree with me? Disagree? Sound off in the comments below!
